Dear Mr. Arjay Torno,
Thank you for your request dated yesterday, made under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch for data on the status of implementation of DOH-DOLE-CSC Joint Administrative Order (JAO) No. 2023-0001, which institutionalizes the Healthy Workplace Program.
The Healthy Workplace initiative refers to the National Policy Framework on the Promotion of Healthy Workplaces in the Philippines, a joint undertaking of the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the Civil Service Commission (CSC). It serves as a guide for private workplaces and public offices in developing environments that promote employees’ overall well-being across seven priority health areas, including mental health, physical activity, and violence prevention. Through tools such as the FIT Tool, organizations are enabled to assess, plan, and implement health promotion programs aimed at fostering a healthier and more productive workforce.
Initially, the implementation of the initiative was voluntary for workplaces. The current direction, however, is to provide incentives to participating establishments through awards and recognition programs. The program has also been strengthened through the recent training and orientation of focal persons from the DOLE, CSC and DOH Regional Offices.
At present, no formal evaluation results are yet available, and the status of program implementation cannot be reported pending completion of the assessment. It is anticipated that within the next one to two years, data on the impact of the JAO across both public and private workplaces will be available for sharing.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
FOI Officer
Department of Labor and Employment
