Hi! I would like to check the status of the Bill called Expanded Maternity Leave 2017. I understanded that it was approved on the Senate, how about the House of Representatives? Did they approve it too? If not yet, are they on the Final Reading or what is the bill's status under the House of Rep? If the house of Reps already approved it, when did they submit it to the president to sign?

Dear Michelle Corporal,
Thank you for your request dated Nov 08, 2017 02:54:13 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.
You asked for Expanded Maternity Leave.
Yes, you are right in saying that the Senate has already passed on third and final reading the Expanded Maternity Leave Law of 2017. However, the measure's counterpart Bill in the House of Representatives is still waiting approval from its members. There is still a need for the House to pass its own version of the Bill and for them to meet and consolidate the two version of the two Bills. Once done, the consolidated Bills will will be forwarded to the President for his signature. Then, it still needs to be publish on two newspapers of general circulation prior to the drafting of an IRR. Only after this is done, then the law becomes effective.
