Dear Ms. Ongtauco:

You requested for the following: “Population of Abandoned Elderly needing Medical Care per region (from 2014-2018).”

Unfortunately, the DSWD only has information regarding abandoned elderly needing medical care residing in its centers and institutions. Thus, we shall partially grant your request and we shall refer your request with respect to this matter to the proper DSWD office.

Under Republic Act 10625 (the “Philippine Statistical Act of 2013”), the Philippine Statistics Authority is the government agency responsible for preparing and conducting periodic censuses on population, housing, agriculture, fisheries, business, industry and other sectors of the economy. The PSA may have the data you need regarding statistics on the elderly, including those abandoned elderly needing medical care. Hence, you may wish to direct your request to the PSA by submitting a request to the PSA via this portal. You may also contact the PSA by telephone at 462-6600 locals 839, 833 and 834 or via email at info@psa.gov.ph.

Further, the Department of Health (DOH) may have abandoned elderly needing medical care in their hospitals and institutions. the DOH may have additional data for your request, you may wish to direct your request to the DOH. You may make another request via this portal. You may also contact the DOH by telephone at 651-7800 local 5001-5006 or via email at callcenter@doh.gov.ph.
