Hi, I'm a grade 12 student who transferred to the Philippines 3 years ago. I used to study in an international school in Kuwait up until 2017 and there was no such thing as an LRN back there. I wasn't informed what an LRN was or what it was for until now and I'm not sure if the school I went to here was able to arrange things for me so I would like to know my LRN if I have one. I do not, how would I go about getting one? Please contact me through my email at

Dear Abbygale Pitogo,

Thank you for your request dated May 30, 2020 06:49:55 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for LRN.

Response to Request

Thank you for communicating with us.

Please be informed that the receiving school has the responsibility to register/update learner's record in the Learner Information System (LIS) and in the absence of the Learner Reference Number (LRN), the receiving school is instructed to register the child in the LIS (if qualified) so he/she can obtain his/her LRN, pursuant to the attached DepEd Issuances.

Although LRN is not required for enrollment, the parents should provide any document/s to the receiving school proving the learner's eligibility to the intended grade level.

In case that the originating school is not DepEd registered/authorized, the learner should take the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) to assess the learner's grade level capability.

Should you have further clarifications, you can directly seek the assistance of the concerned school administration where you intend to enroll the child and/or the nearest DepEd Regional/Division Office.
