Liquefaction and non-liquefaction case histories in the Philippines

Requested from PHIVOLCS by M. Laya at 08:51 AM on Sep 29, 2022.
Purpose: Research/Thesis
Date of Coverage: 01/01/2010 - 09/27/2022
Tracking no: #PHIVOLCS-822002576006

Laya 08:51 AM, Sep 29, 2022

I am requesting liquefaction and non-liquefaction case histories in the Philippines. This dataset generally contains rows of different cases with their corresponding (in numerical values) seismic parameters (magnitude, peak ground acceleration, cyclic stress ratio, shear wave velocity, friction angle, shear modulus), soil properties (groundwater level, depth, relative density, vertical total stress, vertical effective stress, fines content, the median diameter of soil particle, mean grain size, electrical properties of soil) and SPT/CPT results (corrected SPT blow count value, etc.).Thank you!

Dear Maria,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Sep 29, 2022 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your request

You asked for Liquefaction and non-liquefaction case histories in the Philippines.

Response to your request

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance, the information you are requesting is research information. Our team suggests for you to do a research on liquefaction potential calculations. You can simulate different parameters values and give results if liquefiable or not. Also, not all liquefaction events have geotechnical analyses conducted. You may visit PHIVOLCS Library to research on it.

Your right to request a review

If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to DOST- Office of the Undersecretary for Technical and Scientific Services, ITDI-MSD Building, DOST Complex, General Santos Avenue, Bicutan, Taguig City with email ousecsts@dost.gov.ph.

We would highly appreciate it if you can accomplish the feedback form and provide input for us to improve how we handle our FOI requests at this link:

Thank you.

Respectfully,

FOI Officer

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply. May I request a database which contains different parameters values for me to simulate the liquefaction potential? I am requesting any case histories (not all) liquefaction events that have geotechnical analyses in the Philippines. I apologize if this was not clear from my previous request. Thank you so much!
