Dear Andrei Sagun,

Thank you for your request dated Sep 22, 2022 12:19:26 AM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for The number of Dementia Cases in the province of Pampanga.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved.

Good day. Thank you for your interest in Mental Health and for pursuing research on people with dementia. Please refer to the Mental Health Program ( for an overview of the services we provide.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with the up-to-date statistics as we are yet to establish a mental health information system (MHIS) but we are also pleased to inform you that the National Survey for Mental Health and Well-being (which includes dementia statistics) will be released anytime soon.

We also expect that all mental health facilities including hospitals and community-based mental health facilities should be able to address dementia and have records of service users with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. In fact, it is part of the WHO Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP) ( which focuses on services for mental, neurological and substance use disorders specifically in the 9 priority conditions: depression, psychosis, epilepsy/seizures, developmental disorders, behavioral disorders, dementia, alcohol use, drug use and self-harm.

To cite a research article by Dominguez, " In the Philippines, the estimated number of elderly (60 years and older) will more than double from 9.5 million in 2020 to 19.7 million in 2040 (5). The extent of dementia in the Philippines however has not yet been estimated, and data are lacking."

If you require further information or clarification, feel free to contact through the Mental Health Division email ( Thank you very much!
