Dear Alec Basis,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Sep 19, 2019 11:09:20 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for A request of data for an Architectural Thesis about home for the aged.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved. On the Guidelines for the Home for the aged design, the DOH issues guidelines and design standards for the health facilities, however, the Home for the Aged is not a DOH health facility. On the other hand, there is a policy issued in 2017, the DOH Administrative Order No. 2017-0001 wherein the planning, design characteristics and elements needed to provide an appropriate physical environment for the older people are enumerated. (see attached file)

For further questions and clarifications, you may contact the Health Facility Development Bureau at telephone number (02) 651-7800 local 1401-1404

Please note that we are only able to provide some of the information you have requested for as we do not have available information on dementia. The National Mental Health Program currently does not have ANY OFFICIAL data on mental health disorders in our country in all its aspects. The program is currently developing a registry and information system to gather these information. We hope they can await as the department, more specifically, the program strives to address their concerns and strengthen mental health in our country.

We are only able to provide the list of Accredited Psychiatric Facilities in the Philippines. For further reference, please visit the link below:

We can also provide you the regional level data on Alzheimer's Disease Mortality Rate for 2016. You may view this in the Philippine Health Statistics Annual Report at https://www.doh.gov.ph/sites/default/files/publications/2016_PHILIPPINE-HEALTH-STATISTICS.pdf

Finally, we may also try to visit the Philippines' country profile in the Mental Health Atlas 2017 posted at the World Health Organization website: https://www.who.int/mental_health/evidence/atlas/profiles-2017/PHL.pdf?ua=1
