The National Wages and Productivity Commission defined living wage as “the amount of family income needed to provide for the family’s food and non-food expenditures with sufficient allowance for savings/investments for social security so as to enable the family to live and maintain a decent standard of human existence beyond mere subsistence level, taking into account all of the family’s physiological, social and other needs.” The basic formula in computing the same is the sum of food and non-food expenditure plus 10% allowance for savings using data from the Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) of the Philippine Statistics Authority.

The methodology in estimating the family living wage is currently under study by the Commission. Inasmuch as we would like to share the needed information, the release of such information still needs validation. Rest assured that once completed, the results of the review will be made available.

Should you need more information, please feel free to visit our office located at the 2nd and 3rd Floors, Dy International Building, Malvar corner San Marcelino Sts., Malate, Manila.
