Hi! It's Femy Jesoro again, a UPOU student currently taking Master in Research and Management Development.
I would like to request the official and actual duties and responsibilities of each component of PIDS. Specially, I'd like to obtain a detailed function of the Research Services Department, Research Information Department, and Administrative and Finance Department.
This information will help further understand the functions of and importance of each sub-system in PIDS.

Your request
You requested for the official and actual duties and responsibilities of each component of PIDS specifically the detailed function of the Research Services Department, Research Information Department and the Administrative and Finance Department.

Below are the specific functions of the various departments at PIDS:
1. Office of the President – Oversees and supervises all the functional departments of the Institute and implementation of its research program as operationalized by the PIDS. The PIDS President is the Chief Executive Officer of the PIDS, with specific powers and duties indicated in PD 1201.
1.1 Office of the Vice President – Assists the President in the over-all supervision of the operations of the Institute; Assumes the responsibilities of the PIDS President in his/her absence.
1.2 Research Fellows – Implements and/or supervises the conduct of research in his/her area of expertise.
1.3 Research Staff – Provides technical and administrative support to the Research Fellows in the implementation of research studies.
1.4 Support Staff – Provides administrative and clerical support to the Research Fellows and Research Staff in the conduct of research studies.
2. Research Services Department (RSD) – Serves as the project planning and project monitoring and evaluation unit of PIDS. It provides both technical and management support to the research undertakings of the Institute to ensure the efficient and timely development, management, and implementation of its research programs and projects. It has two divisions: the Research Program Management Division (RPMD) and the Information and Communications Technology Services Division (ICTSD).
3. Research Information Department (RID) – Markets the research outputs of the Institute to promote their utilization. It does this through its two main divisions: the Publications and Circulation Division and the Public Affairs Division. It sets up appropriate seminars and fora to encourage dialogue between researchers and policymakers.
4. Administrative and Finance Department (AFD) – Takes charge of providing effective, timely and facilitative auxiliary and logistical services to the day-to-day operation of the Institute and its research projects. It consists of the Administrative, Accounting and Control, Finance, and Procurement Management Divisions.
