I am Nielson Philip R. Corres, a fifth-year B.S. Architecture student of National University, Manila. I am writing an undergraduate thesis tentatively entitled Research and Development Complex for Pineapple Leaf Fiber in Aklan.

Dear Nielson Philip,

Thank you for your request dated Sep 28, 2018 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch, for Pineapple Leaf Fiber in the Philippines.

1.	The top processor of pineapple leaves in Aklan is the Handicraft of Aklan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (HAMPCO). A women’s cooperative located in Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan and is engaged in eco-friendly fiber-based handicraft production. The cooperative produces handloom-woven products like abaca silk cloth, piña cloth, piña seda barong, abaca cloth, abaca piña cloth, piña seda shawl, and abaca polyester. 

The HAMPCO was able to position itself in the export market for already more than 12 years and is now concentrating on abaca, piña and silk fabric for its markets in Japan, France and Italy.

Their pina products include:
